CDRC has two visualisations to support Antibiotic prescribing performance and optimisation:
- Antibiotic Dashboard – CDRC provides you with current and historic antibiotic prescribing data.
- Antibiotics – Repeat Optimisation – CDRC assists with antibiotic monitoring and optimisation
Antibiotic Dashboard- CDRC
To access the Antibiotic Dashboard – CDRC Visualisation, use the search bar in the bottom left-hand corner of the main screen and type in “launch visualisation” and select the returned option:
In the Select Visualisation menu, search for Antibiotic Dashboard – CDRC and select the returned result:
This will open the Antibiotic Dashboard – CDRC Visualisation.
The top of this dashboard highlights antibiotic prescribing data in the last 3 months and the last 12 months. You can compare this to the previous years prescribing data to review changes in the prescribing habits of your practice; we can see that there has been a reduction in the number of antibiotics prescribed in the practice below.
Click on the ‘Detailed Repeat Antibiotic Information‘ drop down to show further data on repeat antibiotics prescribing. There is a further drop down to highlight information on specific antibiotics.
Clicking on the red jigsaw piece next to the numerical value will show you the patient list.
Antibiotics – Repeat Optimisation – CDRC
To access the Antibiotics – Repeat Optimisation – CDRC Visualisation you will first need to retrieve an appropriate patient, this can be done by reviewing the patients lists found in the Antibiotic Dashboard – CDRC visualisation above. Then use the search bar in the bottom left-hand corner of the main screen and type in “launch patient visualisation” and select the returned option:
In the Select Visualisation menu, search for ‘Antibiotics – Repeat Optimisation – CDRC‘ and select the returned result:
This will open the Antibiotics – Repeat Optimisation – CDRC visualisation.
The information shown on this visualisation will differ depending on the antibiotics prescribed and the recorded information on the patient’s EHR.
Click on the name of the antibiotic to be directed to the BNF website where more information can be found on indications, dose, side effects and cautions.
This visualisation shows:
- The current antibiotics on repeat.
- Important warning about drug interactions or issues with other medical conditions e.g., Cirrhosis.
- Monitoring recommendations, latest results and colour coded warnings if the monitoring frequency is overdue.
- Concordance alerts.
- Links to send or print Patient Information Leaflets (PILs).
