The CDRC Lipid Management Resource Suite supports GP practices to systematically identify and manage patients who may benefit from lipid screening, initiation of lipid-lowering therapy, treatment optimisation or specialist lipid management.
The suite combines:
- EMIS Population Reporting searches for identifying relevant patient cohorts.
- The CDRC Lipid Management Template for assessing and managing individual patients.
- Clinical decision support for primary prevention, secondary prevention and Familial Hypercholesterolaemia.
- Support for identifying patients who may meet criteria for PCSK9 inhibitors or Inclisiran.
Together, these resources provide a structured pathway from population-level case finding to individual patient review and clinical action
Reports
Accessing the Reports
CDRC Population Reporting searches are provided directly by the CDRC team. This helps ensure practices receive the appropriate and most current version of the searches, together with any necessary implementation support.
To request access, please email contact-cdrc@healthinnovationnenc.org.uk and a member of the CDRC team will will provide information about access and available support.
This is a temporary arrangement while CDRC develops an enhanced EMIS support service offering improved resource access, regular updates and ongoing support for participating practices.
Report Information:
The CDRC Lipids Reports identify groups of patients who may require:
- Cardiovascular risk assessment
- Familial Hypercholesterolaemia screening
- Clinical review
- Initiation of lipid-lowering treatment
- Optimisation of existing treatment
- Specialist lipid input
The CVD Screening Reports identify patients who may require a formal cardiovascular risk assessment because their estimated cardiovascular risk is 10% or greater.
The FH Case Finding Reports identify patients whose lipid results, diagnoses or recorded information indicate that an assessment for Familial Hypercholesterolaemia may be appropriate.
Report 2.1 Identifies patients with an FH diagnosis code but no associated genetic diagnosis code, supporting record validation and consideration of further assessment under the appropriate pathway
The Consider Medication Initiation Reports identify patients who may benefit from starting lipid-lowering therapy. The reports separate patients according to cardiovascular history and estimated risk allowing for structured prioritisation.
The Consider Medication Optimisation Reports identify patients whose current lipid-lowering therapy may require review or optimisation.
The May Need Specialist Input Reports identify patients who may require more detailed clinical assessment, further treatment intensification or specialist lipid input
The Primary Prevention and Secondary Prevention report folders organise patients into relevant clinical cohorts, allowing practices to take a targeted approach to lipid management.
Primary prevention – Use these reports to identify and manage patients who do not have established cardiovascular disease but may benefit from cardiovascular risk reduction.
Secondary prevention – Use these reports to identify and manage patients with established cardiovascular disease who may benefit from treatment initiation, optimisation or more detailed lipid review.
CDRC Lipid Management Template
The CDRC Lipid Management Template is an intelligent clinical template designed to support individual patient assessment and management.
The template presents relevant information according to:
- Whether the patient is being assessed for primary or secondary prevention
- Current lipid-lowering treatment
- Recorded lipid results
- Whether a treatment target has been recorded
- Whether the recorded target has been achieved
- Treatment suitability and tolerance
- Whether FH assessment is required
The template supports consistent assessment, clinical coding, treatment decisions and follow-up.
Accessing the Template
The CDRC Precision Resource Launcher must be enabled at the practice before the Lipid Management Template can be opened.

Once enabled:
- Open the identified patient’s EMIS record.
- Press F12.
- Select CDRC Precision Resource Launcher.
- Select OK when the launcher opens.
- Select Assessment and Management Templates.
- Select Cardiovascular.
- Open Lipids Management.
