CDRC Precision resources for SystmOne

CDRC Precision resources have been created to provide searches that can be used on the SystmOne digital clinical system. Each resource is hazard reviewed by NECS and has been designed with clinician input in the North East. Each search is accompanied by a step by step guide to support the roll out of each search in practice.

How do I access CDRC Precision resources via SystmOne?
  • Please email the name of your organisation to contact-CDRC@ahsn-nenc.org.uk and indicate that you would like access to the CDRC Precision resources on SystmOne (S1).
  • A task will be sent to your ‘Unassigned Tasks’ box for you to action in order to join the ‘DCS’ group.

First, joining the group does not give any access to any of your organisation’s data (patient or otherwise) to any other organisation.

Second, it is important that at least one person in your organisation is included on the mailing list for the CDRC.  This will ensure that you are made aware of changes and updates as they occur. Sign up to the mailing list at http://eepurl.com/9131L

Third, all the elements of the CDRC group are optional.  However when you join the group two elements will be active automatically on your system:

  • Patient status alerts – these drive the icons that appear at the top right corner of the screen and other parts of the record.  Many of the CDRC PSAs are designed to replace the SystmOne PSAs or might be specific to a certain type of organisation.
  • Any protocols that can trigger automatically.  A protocol is a SystmOne process that can perform certain actions such as display a message, add a medication or Read codes to patient records.  Some are designed to run automatically e.g. a protocol to check if the ‘exacerbation of asthma’ should be added if an asthmatic patient is prescribed prednisolone.

All protocols that can trigger automatically include the term AUTO in the title.  Protocols with AUTO S will only trigger automatically in units which have requested that resource to be enabled at their unit.

To join the CDRC Group

Advice

Please do not try to join the County Durham PCT (Trust Group) unit as this does not have access to the CDRC resources. We will not be notified that you have tried to join CDRC.

To join the CDRC group navigate to the organisation groups management area.  Navigate to County Durham PCT, expand this node and right click on DCS and ‘Join group’. Once your request has been accepted you will have access to all the CDRC elements.

To disable Patient Safety Alerts

It is very easy to disable both these elements if you do not want to use them.

To disable PSAs, navigate to the PSA management area and untick the ‘enabled’ box for the PSAs that you do not want to use.

To disable protocols, navigate to the protocol management area and untick the ‘active’ box for any protocols that you don’t wish to use.

Adding CDRC Elements

Amending CDRC Elements

You will not be able to amend any of the DCS elements from your unit.  If you wish to make changes you can do this in two ways.

  • Recommend changes to the centrally held element
  • Create a local copy the element and amend this as you wish.  Be aware that doing this creates a copy that is no longer linked to the central copy.  Any central changes will not be reflected in the local copy.
If I activate a DCS sharing agreement, will I be sharing my organisations data with anyone else?

No, activating the sharing agreement does not permit access to any of your organistations data (patient or otherwise) to other organisations.

CDRC Precision resources available for SystmOne:

The following resources are currently available for use via EMIS:

> COVID-19:

In light of COVID-19, the CDRC Precision team, NECS and the AHSN NENC have worked closely to develop a suite of resources to support front line clinicians who are assessing and managing patients with suspected COVID-19, deferred treatment and the identification of potential high risk patients who may face COVID-19 related complications.

> COVID-19 Vaccine:

Covid-19 vaccination resources provide support for identifying eligible patients, inviting patients, identifying missed doses and more.

> Oximetry@Home:

The COVID Oximetry at Home template allows patient identification, assessment and management in line with the Oximetry@home SOP.

> BeatAsthma+

Use of the Beat Asthma+ templates developed by CDRC Precision will enable early identification and management optimisation of children with ‘higher risk’ asthma. The pathway involves the delivery of an intensive education programme to children and their families over a 12 month period and will be implemented across 8 GP surgeries from Newcastle Gateshead, North Tyneside and South Tyneside CCG’s.

> Blood Borne Virus (BBV) Test Alert

The Blood Borne Virus (BBV) Test Alert supports early diagnosis of Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV. Created in collaboration with South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Teesside University, the Clinical Digital Resource Collaborative (CDRC) and the AHSN NENC, the alert supports clinicians by flagging patients who should be tested using an algorithm based on BHIVA,BASHH, BIA and NICE guidelines.

> Lipids, Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) and PCSK9i:

The CDRC Precision team have worked closely with lipid specialists in the North East North Cumbria region to develop specialist FH searches (NICE, Simon Broome, DLCNS and Famcat). The searches compare Familial Hypercholesterolaemia detection tools which have been reviewed and incorporated into the CDRC Precision FH search strategy to improve sensitivity and specificity.

> Atrial Fibrillation (AF)

Initially created to support the implementation of a regional AF collaboration in the North East and North Cumbria region, the CDRC Precision AF suite of resources contains searches, templates and targeted alerts. These digital resources help to improve the rates of diagnosis and management of patients with Atrial Fibrillation and further support clinicians with safe anticoagulant prescribing and monitoring.

> National Early Warning Score 2 (NEWS2)

Our NEWS2 resources have been designed by clinicians, for clinicians and are compatible with SystmOne. The searches allow for the NEWS2 score to be calculated and recorded both manually, and automatically creating an entry in the patients record.
